The Parent Education Speaker Series is currently open to current Happy Corner families through our Zoom Parent Education and General Meeting Nights. Feb 2025 Education Event

There will be an online education event on Feb 25 at 7:00PM. Our speaker will be Dr. Deborah MacNamara. They will be speaking on the following topic:

Rest, Play, Grow: Helping Your Children Flourish

Unlike infants and toddlers, preschoolers actually bear a resemblance to grown-ups and therefore fool us into thinking that they are much more like us that they really are. Projecting our psychology onto them is a typical mistake. The presentation will address commonly misunderstood preschooler behaviour including resistance, frustration, attachment, the need for play, and impulsiveness.

Nov 2024 Education Event

There will be an online education event on Nov 13 at 7:00PM. Our speaker has a background in speech-language pathology (SLP) and is able to talk about a range of topics including the following:

• what speech-language pathologists do
• when to access speech-language pathology services for your child (and how)
• practical ways adults teach communication skills to preschoolers
• bilingualism in preschoolers

Fundraising Events

We have several fundraising events each year. Much of what we value at the school is fully funded by fundraising money. This includes field trips, Parent Education speakers, the garden, school and art supplies, capital projects and larger items such as furniture.
